The Second People’s Caravan leaves Sunday, December 1, to Abuyog and Tanauan,

Leyte with the assistance of the University of Tacloban students and to Salcedo and

Guiuan in Eastern Samar, with three ten-wheeler trucks carrying relief and

rehabilitation assistance.

It will be leaving at 7am tomorrow from CARITAS, Pandacan, Manila. The People’s

Caravan, sponsored by PLM, has partnered with CARITAS, the lead Catholic

Agency for social services. Part of the People’s Caravan rehabilitation assistance

will be the delivery of solar-powered lamps to light up barangay halls in Eastern Samar.

While some municipal offices have been provided with generators, the barangay halls

are still in darkness. The lamp systems will also incorporate mobile phone chargers, to

help improve communication, in devastated communities. The solar lamps will be

distributed to the local women’s groups, to create safe spaces for women and children

especially in the evenings, with the assistance of the local barangays.

An Australian journalist from the Australian magazine Green Left Weekly will accompany

the People's Caravan to document the journey.

Please contact Dennis Mendiola on 0917 5389606 for further information.
