The PLM Discussion Series kicked off on September 15 at the University of the Philippines with around 40 leaders of PLM and other allied groups attending. The presentors shared their thoughts on different topics related to the alternative programs and directions of the mass movement. Ricardo Penson of PLM and ATIN called for broadest unity of patriotic and progressive forces as precondition for change. Denggai Silorio of Scrap Pork Network talked about the campaign against pork barrel and the requirements for the people's initiative. Ed Tadem of Freedom from Debt Coalition presented an overview of the agrarian reform struggle and the need for a socialist agrarian reform. Finally, Alex Lacson of Solidarity Movement gave an overview of the national situation and the need for people's initiatives vs pork barrel and political dynasties.
